Anacampseros telephiastrum ‘Variegata’ may be a mouthful, but this utterly adorable succulent plant’s nickname of “sunrise” paints a captivating picture. The intense rose-pink coloring is the first to get you while the lime and emerald- green colors of the rosettes give the impression of glittering jewels. Leaves are violet-pink on undersides. Large pink flowers appear in afternoon in summer, closing each day at dusk. White hairs, a common Anacampseros trait, add interest. Terrific as a colorful accent in dish gardens or to light up nooks and crannies on its own in a decorative pot. Given time, will form a mat of rosettes that delightfully trails over the edge of a pot or terraced planter. Does not tolerate intense heat or strong, direct sunlight for extended periods of time.
