They are delightful plants for terrariums, cages, and glass containers with holes or gaps that allow for ample airflow. Tillandsias fit a range of styles, including zen gardens, contemporary, and minimalist. The flowers are bright and vibrant, in colors such as red, yellow, purple, or pink.
What distinguishes air plants from soil-based plants are their leaves, which absorb water and nutrients from the air. This means that air plants like tillandsias are free from many of the limitations that other plants have. All they require is periodic light mistings and a soak in a bowl of water.
