Agave 'Snowglow' is an amazingly variegated sport of the beloved Agave 'Blue Glow', a small strikingly symmetrical hybrid of Agave attenuata and Agave ocahui. Whereas Agave 'Blue Glow' boasts blue-green leaves with thin red and thinner yellow margins that light up in the sun, on 'Snowglow' that blue-green is bordered on either side by a strong cream-colored band aka "the snow." Discovered by the breeder of Agave 'Blue Glow', Agave 'Snowglow' too has red margins that, along with the creamy hue, glow when backlit by bright light. The margins typically feature a smooth edge, although a broken edge here or there or small teeth are possible. Each radiant leaf terminates in a short red spine.
Agave 'Snowglow' really shines when grouped or massed on a slope or in the garden for a stunning study in symmetry. Try pairing multiple 'Snowglow' around a larger, solid- or mostly solid-colored agave or other succulent. Agave 'Snowglow', typically forming a solitary rosette, makes an eye-catching container specimen for a porch, courtyard, or patio. Your Agave 'Snowglow' will arrive fully rooted in a 3.5" pot. The plant's variegation will only become more impressive as it grows.
Agave 'Snowglow' won't melt in direct sunlight, although if you dwell in a toasty inland spot, the plant will appreciate afternoon dappled light or shade. Taking the edge off the day's hottest sun should help maintain optimal coloring. Agave 'Snowglow' is drought tolerant once established. Looks best with watering during hotter months. You can feed with diluted fertilizer during spring and summer.
